You leave able to walk into a Beginners 1 class without feeling behind, and to get through a song at a party. Missed the first lessons of a course that is already running? This is the way to catch up and still join it.

Who picks
the bootcamp

Three kinds of people, for different reasons.

You want it quickly

A wedding, a holiday, a party where you would rather not stand at the edge. One afternoon and you have something to work with.

You want a head start

You are going to do the course anyway, and you would rather not spend week one finding out where the beat is.

You missed the first lessons

A course has already started and you want to join it anyway. This is the way to do that: in one afternoon you cover what the group did in those first weeks, so you walk into week two or three at their level instead of a week behind.

It does not replace a course. It gives you the basis; the course is where it turns into dancing.

The afternoon
in short

Everything in one place, so you know what you are booking.

1When and where

Saturday 26 September, salsa, 14:00 until 17:30

Sunday 27 September, bachata, 12:00 until 15:30

Orchid House, Linnaeusstraat 2C

Three and a half hours, with a break

Salsa on Saturday, bachata on Sunday. Come alone or bring someone, both work. Orchid House is next to the Oosterpark, a few minutes from Muiderpoort station. On Sunday parking there is free.

2What happens

The teachers stay with you the whole afternoon: Ivan Pavon, who founded the school, on the salsa day and Diego on the bachata day, with Tiffany on both. You dance the basic step until it stops being something you count, and then you dance it with other people, because that is the only way it ever sticks. Partners change all afternoon.

3What you take home

Enough to walk into a Beginners 1 class without feeling behind, and enough to get through a song at a party. You will have laughed a lot, and you will know some names.

At the end of the afternoon you get an offer to carry on in a beginners course. That offer is only made in the room, not online.

Bring shoes you can turn in, so no grip soles. Anything else you want to know, mail info@extremos.nl and you get a person.

Ready to give it a try? Pick your afternoon:

Salsa or bachata?
The short version.

You do not have to choose for good. Plenty of people end up doing both, and the levels run separately.

Salsa

Six steps, with a pause in them

Faster, and more of it happens across the floor: turns, patterns, changes of direction. If the spinning is what drew you in, this is the one.

Bachata

Four steps, with a tap on the fourth

Slower and closer, from the Dominican Republic. More movement through the body than through the feet. Most people get somewhere with it inside an hour.

Leader or follower? The leader decides what comes next, the follower answers it. Usually the man leads and the woman follows. Leading has nothing to do with how well you dance. You learn it from your first class, like everything else. You choose when you book.

★★★★★
Best school in Amsterdam! Professional, high level teachers. Nice people we always have fun and we learn a lot during the lessons. They organise a lot of socials.

★★★★★
World-class professionals offering excellent instruction at a fair price. I have spent the last 2 months driving to Amsterdam from Amersfoort (60km), three to four times per week, to attend lessons and social events at Extremos.

★★★★★
Absolutely brilliant school for Salsa L.A style. The teachers there are amazing, they all have different styles of teaching but the fundamentals stays the same which I love.
